Inside the StoryStudio Co-op Hub: How Can It Benefit Your Brand?

Pooled resources, shared benefit, mutual gain—these are the qualities of your neighborhood co-op market, or your local business advocacy group. But at the Hearst StoryStudio, they’re the active ingredients of a powerful cooperative model finding success across regions and verticals: the Co-op Hub.

The Co-op Hub is a modern, content-driven version of collaborative marketing where several sponsors are gathered around one themed destination, each amplified by the shared traffic. What’s unique about the StoryStudio’s Co-op Hub is also what makes it so effective: our Co-op Hub is always custom-built around a theme we help sponsors create, populated with engaging content that is tailored to each specific sponsor while remaining interconnected to the unifying concept.

What does this mean in practice? It means with a shared goal, multiple businesses can work together to amplify their messaging. Co-op Hubs harness the full power of StoryStudio’s analytics and expert targeting behind it, and offer different entry levels so that brands of any size can participate and benefit, with guaranteed impressions that scale to the package. With every increased sponsor, the Co-op Hub has increased visibility and impact.

Why a Co-op Hub?

Our Co-op Hubs work because they’re built on topics that already enjoy reader interest or community relevance, and then help readers explore, compare, plan, and take action.

Imagine a consumer researching a travel destination, an annual festival, or even shopping for back-to-school, or the holiday season. The Co-op Hub provides consumers a centralized destination that offers all the valuable insights and content they could need in one place.

Meanwhile, the hub’s sponsors enjoy the benefits of pooling their resources under a common interest that acts as a funnel for directing the right audience to their brand—all while maintaining brand identity with customized, brand-specific content.

Inside the Co-op Hub Process

The Co-op Hub is a partnership between StoryStudio and local Hearst media outlets. Over the last 6+ years, we’ve fine-tuned the process of building out a hub and getting it in front of the right audience. Here’s how it works.

(1) Strategy: We help create the Co-op Hub theme and identify seamless participants to integrate and invest.

(2) Creation: We then create the entire wireframe of the site which will house the sponsored content stories, interactive maps &quizzes, podcasts, or other StoryStudio products. We work with each individual sponsor to craft engaging content and components that live on the Hub for as long as the Hub is in operation. Given our Hubs are created around tentpole time periods and seasonal moments, many of our Co-op Hub clients buy in year after year.)

(3) Launch: Once the final Co-op Hub is approved and all sponsor inclusions are ready, we launch the Hub backed by our custom targeting and promotional strategy that gets the Hub in front of the target audience, with guaranteed benchmarks.

(4) Ongoing Support: Once launched, our support doesn’t disappear. We continue to support sponsor additions, refreshes, or extensions while offering detailed analytics of performance.
